FRIDAY JUNE 28TH

94.7 WCSX presents STARSHIP featuring Mickey Thomas wsg Tony Lewis of THE OUTFIELD to the Taylor Summer Festival main stage on Friday June 28th! Starship featuring Mickey Thomas is the newest incarnation of one of American’s rock and roll’s most storied bands, dating all the way back to the mid-sixties when it first featured iconic lead singer Gracie Slick.

While singing lead for the Jets in 1974, Thomas joined the Elvin Bishop Group
as a vocalist. He sang lead vocals on the 1975 Elvin Bishop single “Silent Night”
and the 1976 single "Spend Some Time," but his best known achievement was
singing on Elvin Bishop’s chart hit “Fooled Around and Fell in Love,” a No. 3
single in 1976.

In April 1979, Thomas joined Jefferson Starship after the departure of Marty
Balin and Slick. Thomas spent most of the early eighties as the main vocalist of
Jefferson Starship, even performing several duets with Slick (who rejoined the
group in 1981), all the while gaining greater influence in the band. After Paul
Kantner left the band in 1984, Thomas became its leader.

In today’s version of the group, he and Stephanie Calvert provide the lead vocals,
backed by Darrel Verdusco (drums), Phil Bennett (keyboards), Jeff Adams (bass)
and John Roth (lead guitar). Those who attend the summer festival be listening to songs like “We Built This City on Rock and Roll,” “Sara,” Nothing’s Going to Stop Us Now” and “Find Your Way Back.”

Tony Lewis of The Outfield will open for Starship. Lewis is a musician, songwriter and record producer probably best known as co-founder of The Outfield. Together with John Spinks, the two took the eighties by storm with infectious pop songs, including “Your Love,” “All the Love,” and “Say It Isn’t So.” Their debut album, Play Deep, was issued in 1985, and would go on to reach triple platinum sales status and the Top 10 in the U.S. album charts.

Saturday JUNE 29TH

For the first time ever, Taylor Summer Festival will be hosting a concert on Saturday night along with their Fireworks show, presented by BJ's Wholesale Club.

Cinderella's Tom Keifer will headline the night followed by the
Taylor Fireworks display.Though he possesses all the fire and
brimstone of rock’s greatest front men, you would be hard pressed
to find the versatility and dimension that Keifer brings to a stage.
Whether delivering heart wrenching ballads, such as “Don’t Know
What You Got ‘til It’s Gone,” channeling the soul of the bluesmen
of the past with his slide guitar and lap steel, or blowing sax on
rockers like “Shelter Me,” Keifer is clearly a unique performer. Combine that with his new band, Tony Higbee (guitar/vocals), Billy Mercer (bass/vocals), Kory Myers (keyboards/vocals), Jarred Pope, (drums), Savannah Keifer (vocals/percussion/piano) and Kendra Chantelle (vocals/percussion), and there is only one possible outcome – a high energy rock show combining all the classic hits of Cinderella with new favorites.

Mad Rabbit will open the night on the main stage! They are best known as Michigan's Live Jukebox™ and Michigan's Ultimate Hare Band! Mad Rabbit features one of the strongest female vocalists in the area and perform songs to not only showcase her range but to also push the boundaries of "safe, easy" covers and play many of the hits that you forgot you loved. Opened for Bret Michaels and The Romantics. Accurately cover Pat Benatar, Triumph, Rush, Heart, Led Zeppelin, Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Warrant, Evanescence, Halestorm, Janis Joplin, Alanis Morisette, RATT and AC/DC.

We're also welcoming Eva Under Fire, a local Taylor based band that has recently signed with a major label. Eva Under Fire is now part of Eleven Seven Label Group. They have been added to the roster of amazing bands this label represents including Fiver Finger Death Punch, Nothing More, Bad Wolves, Papa Roach and many others! They are anticipating a debut release in Spring 2019.
